CHIROPRACTIC TREATMENT

Chiropractic is concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mechanical disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the effects of these disorders on the function of the nervous system and general health. There is an emphasis on manual treatments including spinal manipulation or adjustment (World Federation of Chiropractic, 1999).

The main reason people seek chiropractic care is due to pain.  So, often, the primary motive is to reduce that pain and return to normal activities.  Pain is a complex area and Sally is proud to be studying to complete a Diploma in Pain Management with the Royal College of Chiropractors.  She is a member of their Pain Faculty.

Based in Basingstoke, Hampshire, Sally tailors each treatments to the patient.  This is particularly important for the nervous patient who is worried about coming to the chiropractor. For those who dislike the 'clicking' sound of adjustments there are usually comfortable alternatives. It is really important to always work within the patient's tolerance and according to the patient's likes and dislikes. Sally uses soft tissue therapies, mobilisation and manipulation and can also offer medical acupuncture (dry needling) and ultrasound as additional treatment options - there is no additional charge for this. Every patient gets a customised rehabilitation exercise programme to help them build strength, return to full activities and prevent recurrence.

For people the new patient appointment takes about 1hr and covers a full history, examination and, where appropriate, treatment.  If you need any further appointments they are 30 minutes long.  The emphasis is on getting you better without reliance on treatment. No hard sell, no need to commit to lengthy treatment plans at great expense.  Just the help you need, when you need it.

Wessex Chiropractic treats both people and animals. Animal chiropractic is becoming increasingly popular in the UK. It is a complementary healthcare treatment used alongside traditional veterinary care. Our dogs and horses may perform for us at the highest levels or be a much-loved family pet. Regardless, the stresses and strains of daily life take their toll and some animals, just like humans, suffer from injuries.

Until recently a  vet was required to give permission before an animal could be treated by any other healthcare professional.  Now permission is STILL required when managing active disease or injury, but NOT if the goal of treatment is to maintain wellbeing and mobility in a healthy animal or to improve function and / or competitive performance in a healthy animal.
